A Timeline!

For anyone who's just joining us I thought that I'd post a brief time line of events leading up to the present time.  This over eight month journey has had it ups and downs and hopefully an end in sight.  It's hard to imagine that such a lengthy process could look so simple when written down on paper.

January 25th- our initial offer on the house is accepted.

March 8th-we needed to provide proof of funds (again)

April 20th-we signed our first extension of the offer. At this point I had already decided on a property management company, insurance company and had narrowed down which home inspector we would hire.  Little did I know that I wouldn't need any of this for awhile.

May 20th- we signed our second extension.  Around this time it became apparent we were not anywhere near closing even thought it had been hinted at.

June - 3rd extension

July - 4th extension.  The original lawyer had strongly indicated that we were really close to closing. At this time we knew that the 1st bank had all but accepted the offer, but had not seen anything in writing.  The hopes of a summer visit to Florida was looking grim.

August - The 5th extension is signed.  This month also marked the dismissal of the sellers original lawyer and the hiring of another. The new lawyer seems to have things much more under control. From what I read they specialise in short sales and foreclosures. Yay, I hope.

September 28th- 6th extension is signed.  We don't seem to be any further ahead but we do know that the first bank, Bank of America has all the required information from the seller and from us. TD waterhouse says they haven't had a chance to look at our file yet.

So as of today, we are still waiting. Still telling people we have know idea when we'll get the house. And still hoping it will close soon...

Hopefully this explains the ups and downs that we've had.  It doesn't look like a long process on paper but it feels like it's taking forever.  With Thanksgiving around the corner, I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and that you all have something to be thankful for. Even though this small part of our life is frustrating we have lots of other things to be thankful for.
